Do you have any quick, finger food recipes for a teen party?

International Spy asked:

I’m having a party on Valentine’s day. And I need some things for my friends and I to eat. And my friends eat a lot. I think (as of now) there are about 8 people attending. Again, eight people who eat a lot. I asked friends to bring things (so I don’t have to pay for EVERYTHING), so one friend is bringing some Stromboli, one is making a cake, one is bringing some mini Hershey bars, and someone is bringing a fondue fountain, that can inspire many ideas.

The plan was to order pizza, but when I heard about the Stromboli, I didn’t know if I should. I’ve never had Stromboli. Are they anything alike? If not, should we still order a couple of pizzas? Also, I’m going to make Explosions. They are Tostitos Scoops filled with chunky salsa and shredded cheese w/ or w/o bacon. I planned on making pigs in a blanket. And I also planned on making chocolate cup molds with ice cream (strawberry or vanilla), whipped cream, and a half strawberry or a cherry.

But I need more food. Besides chips, pretzels, and cheese puffs, what should I make. I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen preparing one dish, but I don’t want to toss something on a plate. If you have some good recipes, share! And if they are Valentine’s themed, that’s a bonus!!! My party isn’t FOR Valentine’s day, by the way. DON’T SEND ME TO A WEBSITE.

    Fried Coconut Shrimp

Recipe makes 4 servings so make 2 batches…

    Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs raw jumbo shrimp
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 cup cornstarch
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon white pepper
    2 teaspoons cooking oil
    1 cup ice water
    oil (for frying)
    2 cups coconut
    Sauce
    1/2 cup orange marmalade
    1/4 cup Dijon mustard
    1/4 cup honey
    3 drops Tabasco sauce

    Directions
1 Peel and devein the shrimp; dry on paper towels.
2 Mix the flour, cornstarch, salt and pepper in a medium bowl.
3 Add oil and the ice water to the dry ingredients; stir to blend.
4 Heat the oil to 350 degrees in an electric skillet.
5 Dip the shrimp in the batter, then roll each shrimp in the coconut.
6 Fry shrimp for about 4 minutes, or until lightly browned.
    7 Do not overcook!
8 Place the shrimp in a shallow baking dish and bake at 300 degrees for 5-7 minutes to complete cooking.
9 Combine the marmalade, Dijon mustard, honey and Tabasco to make the sauce and serve with the shrimp.

It’d be really easy to make heart shaped cookies or rice krispie treats/brownies with heart shaped sprinkles on them. Target has everything you need for htem and recipes are hella easy to find/make. (Betty crocker it or use the recipe on the rice krispie box).

I’ve never met someone who didn’t like baked macaroni and cheese because it’s made with real cheesey goodness and it takes like, 30-40 minutes to make but most of that is baking time! you could prepare it the night before and bake it before when you need it. A good recipe is on the golden grain macaroni pasta box, otherwise just try one onliine. The one from weightwatchers is actually good, tried that for christmas!

You could do pizza but you’re gonna live off of pizza in college. If you do it though, ask them to arrange the pepperoni in a heart so it’s at least themed still.

How about some homemade nachos? Simple easy and you can change it up. I generally just get tortilla chips, refried beans, various shredded cheese and cook some hamburger meat (97% lean, but you can use any type of hamburger meat). I start with a layer of tortilla chips (thin layer) and then alternate putting in refried beans (heated in a sauce pan on top of the stove this makes it easier to spread it on the chips or drop thinner scoops of it), the cooked hamburger meat and the shredded cheeses. I pop it in the oven until it’s all heated, then before I take it out I spread another layer of shredded cheese on top let it melt and then take it out. I generally cook it in a 18 x 9 pan that is about 3 or 4 deep but you can use any pan, non-stick or glass.

To change it up you can add sliced jalapenos, change the ground beef to slice cooked chicken, or ground turkey, or add it to the ground beef. Anything goes! And don’t forget to have sour cream salsa on the side so when people put the nachos on their plate they can put a scoop of sour cream and/or salsa on it!

    Good luck with your party!
